Sirindhorn Museum

The Sirindhorn Museum is the most comprehensive dinosaur museum in Southeast Asia, displaying the beginning of life and the universe, the evolution of life, and the dinosaur age up until the appearance of humans.

Visitors may also closely observe experts at work as they examine dinosaur fossils, study the operating room, and stand in the same excavation hole where the bones of “Phuwiangosaurus Sirindhornae,” a relatively new dinosaur species discovered in Thailand, were first discovered.

Kaeng Ka-Am waterfall

This waterfall is located on Highway No. 213 55 kilometres from Kalasin on the Kalasin-Sakon Nakhon route.

This cute, little waterfall is the perfect spot to unwind. The ideal place for tanning is a large, open rock plateau where water pours down a long column of surrounding rocks.

Phu Phra National Park

It is in the Ta Kanto district’s Tambon Ta Kanto. Visitors can travel 4 kilometres on the Amphoe Muang-Amphoe Yang Talad-Amphoe Ta Kanto route from the town. It consists of a stone garden within the woodland inside the forest park. Phu Phra Forest Park, which is situated in Tambon Na Tan, was once a part of the Dong Mun National Forest Reserve. It has a magnificent mountain close to the villages. The Phu Phra Forest is a fairly dense forest with wild animals, a lovely stream, and a picturesque vista.

An old stone Buddha statue can be found in the plain on the mountain’s backside. In addition, the woodland park’s intriguing tourist attractions include a large stone cliff that is between 150 and 200 metres wide is called Pha Suay. It is an amazing place to go sightseeing. Tham Siam Sap is a cliff cave that resembles something that was dug with a “Siam” or spade. The cave known as Tham Phra Rot was created when a stone cliff split apart.

Phu Faek Forest Park

One of the ancient Buddhist places in the province of Kalasin is this hill. A small group of forest monks used to reside here, far from society, from the sixth to the tenth century, during the Dvaravati era. Two prehistoric Reclining Buddha carvings from the eighth or ninth century have been left behind—one on the lower slopes and the other on the peak.

The cravings are still objects of adoration despite being wrapped in gold leaf. The Buddha at the top is seen to be more artistically accomplished. Excellent views can be seen from the top, and the ascent is not too strenuous. There are butterfly colonies, wildflowers, and bamboo clumps to admire.

Wat Si Bun Rueang (Wat Nuea)

The historic temple is located in the Mueang neighbourhood. Many handmade boundary stones from Fa Daet Song Yang Ancient City are kept at the temple. The Ubosot structure is surrounded by the stones.

The boundary stone with flying angels over a Prasat, or palace, symbolised by two arches with the king, queen, and their sons at the bottom is one of the most exquisite examples of Dvaravati art.

Amuse Coffee

Excellent option for western cuisine, including pizza, steak, salad, and dessert. Although the price is a little above average for the area, the service is good.

The Ricemill Market

A favourite hangout for Thai youth. There are several food sellers with tables and chairs in one tiny tent. Next door, a bigger pavilion is mostly utilised for drinking and listening to music (sometimes live music). A nice spot to unwind and eat meals from the area.
