Exploring Amnat Charoen During Your Yoga Holiday

Things To Do in Amnat Charoen

Puttha Utthayan and Pra Mongkol Ming Muang

The Buddha picture Pra Mongkol Ming Muang represents Mara being subdued. It is situated within walking distance of a temple. The 66-foot (20-meter) tall Buddha image was created by Chitr Buabud in 1965 and was constructed over the previous one using steel-reinforced concrete and covered with golden mosaic. The Amnat Charoen Province now uses this Buddha image as its emblem.

The Buddha statue is located across from the reservoir known as “Ang Kep Nam Phuttha Utthayan Lake” just north of the town centre. The statue is on the left as you travel about 3 miles along Route 212. Once there, a straight, tree-lined path takes you to a surprisingly lovely, 20-meter-tall Buddha statue.

Two robed Buddha statues are arranged around the back of the statue. These were discovered in the early 1960s and demonstrate that Buddhism has been essential to this region for more than 2000 years. In addition to its majesty and magnificent aspect, it is also said that the Buddha pictures can grant wishes for good fortune.

Phu Sa Dok Bua National Park

The Amnat Charoen, Mukdahan, and Yasothon Provinces of Thailand are home to the Phu Sa Dok Bua National Park. The park’s administrative centre is situated in the province of Mukdahan Province’s Amphoe Don Tan.

A dwarf dry dipterocarp forest covers the park. It contains a 423 m high mountain. There are 11 stone lakes that are only a few metres broad on the hilltop. Oddly, different species of colourful lotus often found in marshes are occupying each of them. According to local lore, the lotuses grew on their own without anyone planting them. The name “Phu Sa Dok Bua,” which means “the mountain of lotus pools,” was given to these ponds as a result.

A large cave nearby has space for hundreds of people. In the 1960s, this cavern was one of the Communist Party of Thailand’s strongholds. The park also features stunning sandstone terraces and views from Phu Pha Hom, which is 386 metres high.

Phu Sing – Phu Pha Phueng Forest Park

The 16 square kilometre-large Pa Dong Hua Kong – Pa Dong Bang I National Reserved Forest is home to the stone mountains that make up Phu Sing – Phu Pha Phueng Forest Park, situated at Mu 7, Ban Pa Charoen, Tambon Nok Tha. It is a watershed for Huai Si Tho and comprises mixed deciduous dipterocarp and woods.

Natural beauty can be found everywhere in Phu Pha Phueng, including mountain views, rocks, rock terraces, small and large flora, caves, cliffs, and big rocks. These are lined up and piled to create a variety of shapes, but the most impressive you can overlook the surrounding and distant countryside is the peak of Phu Pha Phueng. From this viewpoint, you can see the Nong Khai district and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

Wat Phra Lao Thep Nimit

Originally known as “Wat Si Pho Chayaram Khammawadi,” Wat Phra Lao Thep Nimit was constructed in 1720 during the time of King Phrachao Thai Sa.

The temple’s ubosot was constructed in the Lanna architectural style and houses the main Buddha image, Phra Lao Thep Nimit, a 2.7-meter-tall and 2.85-meter-wide lacquered and gilded stucco figure in the subduing Mara position. During the 16th and 17th centuries, the Vientiane art school, which was influenced by the Lanna style, built the Buddha characteristics in the Lan Xang art style. The Buddha image, however, was thought to have been constructed a little after that time because it displayed many influences from local artisans, such as a facial shape, a stretching halo flame, and a proportion of the lap and feet that were similar to the Buddha’s features in that group of wooden and bronze Buddha images constructed during the 18th and 19th centuries.

This primary Buddha image in the province is thought to have the most exquisite beauty in the Northeast.

Mekong Scenic Route

Approximately 38 kilometres of the Mekong River’s border are covered by Amphoe Chanuman, a breathtakingly beautiful passage on all Amnat Charoen 15 sides of the river. There is a long waterfront road, especially in front of the Chanuman Subdistrict Municipality Office, where you may relax and take in this breathtaking view. Don Chanot, a sizable islet in the middle of the River alongside smaller islets, may be seen well between February and May during the dry season.

Throughout this unusual, beautiful trip, take in the serene views of the Mekong River and the surroundings.
